Antique Reels Both Old & Vintage

Shakespeare 1740 HE Tournament Casting Antique Reel

Antique Reels

The fishing reel, for what can go better with Antique Lures but the Antique Reels. The quintessential peanut butter & jelly so to speak for a vintage fishing tackle collector. A veritable game of what came first the chicken or the egg, the method to catch or the method of retrieval. For as long as man has had a hook he must have had some way to send and receive it no matter how crude or rudimentary the method may have been or the fishing reel may have seemed.

I think we all can agree that neither would be as important without the other. Sometimes collectors form two camps, Old Fishing Lures vs Antique Reels & in my opinion that just wastes time and resources (two things we all seem to be short on) when we could be viewing things from a larger historical perspective. Our mission the same; to make sure the next generation knows how to use either just as fluently as a Iphone. Yes, tall order it might be but I have faith in collectors and believe in the mission of such fine organizations as ORCA, the NFLCC, and FATC.
