James Van Uxem Antique Bait Casting Fishing Reel
This is a Vintage James Van Uxem Antique Bait Casting Fishing Reel. James L. Van Uxem was a resident of Chicago, Illinois where he had a retail sporting goods shop from about 1870 until 1905. His business was located at 101 Randolph Street. He sold firearms mostly but also carried some fishing tackle. In late 1905 he sold his business to Bullard & Gormley Co. located at 78-80 Randloph Street. Reels bearing his name are very rare. there are probably less than two dozen reels stamped with his name known to exist at the present time.
