Black Giant John Pritzlaff Line Spool

The Black Giant John Pritzlaff Line Spool is a wonderful piece of history. The John Pritzlaff Hardware Company (est. 1850) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin sold Japan silk fishing lines, manufactured for them by the Cortland Line Company (est. 1915) of Cortland, New York. This particular label with the “JPHCO” trademark at the enter was used on the back side of their line spools from the late 1920s to early 1930s and is considered very rare to find today.

This spool and many others we have listed belonged to John Etchieson. John has spent decades amassing one of the largest line collections. The vast array of line spools and cards he has in his collection is historically significant as John has spent decades not only collecting, but rather researching these companies adding provenance to these pieces.
