Heddon Zig Wag Lure

The Heddon Zig Wag Lure is a fisherman and antique lure collector favorite. The lure was stated to have been released in 1926, however it would not make its debut on paper until Heddon 1928 antique lure catalog. This wooden articulated lure resembles the Basser in shape but where it differs is its jointed body make it swim very eradicated through the water. This classic was given a model series number 8300 and was made from 1926 through 1943 in this form.

We have a nice Red Head Green Scale Zig Wag in on Consignment this week, click below to view.

Heddon Zig Wag

The Zig Wag family would grow with different models and sizes, both larger and smaller and would also find a niche inside the Salmon and Steelhead arena. The Original Zig wag series measures 4 1/4″ and weighs in at 3/4 ounces. The wooden lure featured glass eyes, however I have seen and held a no eye version as well. The 8300 can be found in both a 2 Hook and 3 Hook versions, using L-Rig & two piece flap rig hardware to attach them to the body. The early version will have a Decal label that would give way to the standard Heddon lure stenciling. The zig wag can be found in a host of colors both standard and uncatalogued.

Zig Wag The Liveliest Acting Bat Ever

Zig Wag (Improved) 8300 Series

Not Just another jointed bait, but a real fish getter! Some remarkable catches are reported on this new lure in both fresh and salt water.

You will have to use this bait to really appreciate what it offers. It is by far, the most erratic of all erratic movement baits.

The bait has a unique duplex movement, consisting of a wide erratic sweeping action, cutting the water in those unexpected angles and zigwags that seem to hunt out the hiding places of the fish. The tail section keeps up a fishlike fanning movement in continuous curves, as alive as a life itself.

Users of the famous Heddon Basser, will find the Zig Wag similar in shape, but many times livelier in action.

The Zig Wag lends itself to teasing surface twitching of the bait, and short jerks.
