Brandel Double B Antique Lure

The Brandel Double B Antique Lure is a neat classic fishing apparatus. Circa 1948 this lure seems to have an identity crisis, it cant figure out which way it wants to spell its name. Certainly the premise of the lure is derived from past attempts from lure makers to increase the longevity of the lure. We see even from the Mid Teens with the advent of the glass minnow tubes this has always been of a fisherman’s concern. Muncie Indiana was the home of the Double B, and continued to be the place of manufacture even when the lure changed its name to more prevalent Multi-Lure that more collectors are familiar with.

This Brandel Double B Antique Lure measure 5 1/2″ in length and comes equipped with 2 trebles. With a smallish size diving lip affixed just under the forward line tie, fishermen were able to control the depth by the rate of retrieval. Turning counter clockwise the fisherman was able to unscrew the head and replace with enticer bait with a fresh frog, worm or minnow. The lure has open slots that are just over 2″ on either side of the bait. The bait nd box shown in the gallery below is a earliest pre-patent version of the bait as you can see by the patent pending written on the plain script box, later boxes would be more colorful and decorative.
