Tight Lines Tuesday Kresge Special, “Attention Kmart shoppers!” long before you had ever heard of our “blue light specials” we had specials … We were called Kresge in those days, after the name of our founder S. S. Kresge who started our Kmart company in 1899. And, if you look closely you will see just a little bit of our “blue light” peeking out from behind the left hand side of our KRESGE SPECIAL label shown here from 1925. When we had these quality silk fishing lines made for us 90+ years ago by the Newton Line Company of Homer, New York we had them leave that little round red price dot next to the fish blank so that we could fill in a special discounted price whenever we had one of those special “blue light” moments occur in our store.
