Heddon Dowagiac P51 Antique Reel
The Heddon Dowagiac P51 Antique Reel was first introduced in 1952. The beautiful reel expounded on the Heddon Pal line up and was the brother to the P-41. While not nearly as popular this vintage bait casting reel was only made for 2 short years, and gone from Heddon Catalogs after 1953. The reel sold for just under $10.00 making it not a cheap reel by any means, but it was a step down from the P41 series. The reel has beautiful almost sea foam in color side plates and green swirl or molted bell shaped knobs.
No. P51 Dowagiac Reel
This is an extremely light, durable and easy casting reel with Heddon’s exclusive patented feature – the famous removable head ring. Without the use of a single tool, the head ring can be unscrewed in a jiffy, thus exposing gears for easy lubricating, and replaced just as quickly, without changing or making a single adjustment. Another outstanding feature is the adjustable anti backlash cap which will entirely eliminate backlashes. This cap carries a full years supply of lubricant. End plates anodized in beautiful moss green to prevent corrosion. Featherweight aluminum spool starts easy, permitting casting of all weight lures. Bronze gears, quadruple multiplying. Capacity 100 yard 18lb test line.
