South Bend Better Bass Oreno

The South Bend Better Bass Oreno, is a model number 73. This vintage lure produced by the South Bend Bait Company is made of wood as was the traditional model. Trying to improve upon its already mastered production of the generational Bass Oreno, a model series 973, the Better Bass Oreno was first introduced in 1934. Compared to its predecessor which was made for a half century, it was made for less than a decade and was only in production until 1942.

The Better Bass Oreno was made of wood, and while the industry still was using glass eyes, the Better Bass Oreno series were only ever produced in tack eye. Having the typical 3 trebles, the addition of a metal plate strengthened its durability. Being found in a host of traditional finishes the Better Bass Oreno can be a fun one to collect.
