Jointed Vamp Spook Lure
The Jointed Vamp Spook Lure was a short lived lure by Heddon standards. Originally released in 1932 this Heddon of Dowagiac Michigan made antique fishing lure was cataloged through 1943 lasting only a decade. This classic bait was given a model series 9730, akin to its wooden brother the Jointed Swimming Vamp a model 7300 series. This plastic lure was part of marketing Heddon’s newest series of Fish Flesh lures. The vamp spook essentially was just a jointed version of the original straight series, and plastic version of the 7300, measured in at 4 1/2″ in length an tipped the scales at 3/4oz.

Natural Scale Jointed Vamp Spook
The first Jointed Vamp Spook Lure series, if you can still find one should it not be shrunken and have turned to dust, would have glass eyes, and toilet seat hardware. This version this would not last long. Right after the initial series proved unstable Heddon re-adjusted its plastic formulation and its use of glass eye’s on plastic lures and would continue forward with painted eyes. We also see a changed from toilet seat hardware to two piece flap rig for the remainder of its antique lure life cycle. While the lure wouldn’t last very long it still was offered in close to two different standard colors making it a fun antique lure series to collect, or a subset of a larger lure collection.
