Jim Pfeffer Banana Lure

The Jim Pfeffer Banana Lure is reported to have been one of his earliest lures. There are those who will argue that the Orlando shiner is the first. But what we cant argue about is the success of the Banana Lure. Fashioned in the Shape of a Banana this wooden lure has a notched mouth and painted eyes. The lures with only the black iris are said to be the earliest versions. This version of the lure had three treble hooks to secure its catch. the were secured to the lure itself using cup and screw eye hardware.

I believe there is 5 different sizes to the Banana over its life span with the Pfeffer Lure Company out of Orlando Florida. You can find some of the early lures sent or sold in these brown manila packaging envelopes. The Pfeffer Banana was offered in over a dozen different colors over its life span. The amount of colors and size and body differences and collectible options make the Banana a success with antique lure collectors as well.
