Heddon Big Mary
The Heddon Big Mary Lure is another antique lure in the Salt Water Special series lure line up. The antique lure shown is series 800, and the color code is a letter P for Shiner Scale. The lure would have been housed in a red border up leaping bass box marked 809P. The lure was offered in few different salt water finish colors as well as a few of Heddon’s more primary and common finishes, yet they are not common at all on this lure.. This wooden, glass eyed, Dowagiac Michigan made antique fishing lure was first introduced in 1926, and has a wooden fish shaped tail. This antique Heddon fishing lure is shown in Heddon’s Bar Rig Hardware on the front trailing treble hook, and screw eye for the rear. The Big Mary has only a single forward line tie placed at the front of the nose. The fishing lure does feature weights to help the lure dive deeper in the water.
