Antique Fishing Photo Sam Wallace CDV
This a great Antique Fishing Photo Sam Wallace CDV. CDV or Carte De Viste is a photography format or medium like we a few have discussed before with Samuel Tisdale the Black bass Man. The Carte De Viste CDV was invented and patented by France by photographer André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri in 1854. This medium of smallish sized card would be supplanted or followed by “cabinet cards”, in the early 1870’s as the popular or medium of choice.
As I’ve stated before a Fisherman or Fishing scenes are considered difficult to find. Usually the subjects of the early photos were of some importance, and or elevated social status. Being able to afford a true Rod, Reel, Creel and Fishing outfit was not generally widespread.
In this great pose we see our subject Sam Wallace presenting with all the needed items for a great day on the water or stream. If anyone is able to ID the Rod or especially the reel I would be great-full for the help. If you have any photos youd be willing to let me use and share with the readers please contact me. I would love to add some more period images to the site and would be more than happy to give full credit for the submission.
