This 1912 Venetian Brand Gladding Japan Silk Fishing Line Spool for lake or stream was manufactured by the B. F. Gladding Line Company (est. 1816) of South Otselic, New York. The label features the ‘new” Gladding trade mark introduced in 1912 in the center and the VENETIAN brand was made for 21 years through 1933 and then discontinued. The VENETIAN brand name honored the citizens of the ancient and historic City of Venice which is located in northeastern Italy and known as the “City of Canals”.
