Vee Bug Antique Fishing Lure
The Vee Bug Antique Fishing Lure is a neat fishing lure. The lure had two distinct body evolution, the first of which was wood having 4 hooks set up very similar to the flat fish, than then moving to a plastic based body with only 2T. This curved body antique lure was first patented in 1937 and was commercially produced by the Martz Tackle Company out of the Great Motor City, Detroit Michigan. The first version of the lure made of wood, not shown, is substantially bigger the the later plastic 3 5/8″ examples below.
The lure is said to have been sold in a half dozen colors or less, three of which can be seen in the antique lure gallery below. The fist version box that houses the larger version is more of a plain non-descriptive type, with later versions employing color. The Vee Bee Box I dont believe to be correct for the lure, however that’s how it was sent to me.
