Thoren Minnow Chaser Lure
The Thoren Minnow Chaser Lure was produced by its namesake A.H. Thoren. The antique lure was made in Chicago Illinois at 7407 Rhodes Ave. I’m not sure if they’ve ever pinned down a true start date. Some resources state 1928 and made by another manufacturer, Blake, of Casper, Wyoming. While others that are later, such as this version shown dated to around 1940. What a cool and popular lure though no matter when it was made. Predator chasing its prey so to speak. We’ve seen this in other lures where they mimic the fish chasing a bug or another smaller fish. Both the two units are held together by a wire harness or leader of sorts. The lure was available in a few different color variations over the years.
Paperwork that is found with this version States: The Silvery Minnow swimming for dear life being chased by a fish. The latest 1940 lure. Something entirely new for the fisherman. This is a combination double action lure which works just as well for trolling as well as casting. It travels close to the surface when retrieved, with an action you have never seen before. You will get a big kick out of it just to watch it come in. The box its with tells us “Patent Pending”, a “New Bait with New Action”, For Fresh or Salt Water Fishing” gives a bit of insight but actually confuses matters even more as to it’s beginning.
