Announcing The Angling Marketplace
Powered by Lang’s, The Angling Marketplace is the new home of the seller timed auction, providing a wide range of antique & collectible fishing tackle and angling related items in a bidding format. All lots offered in The Angling Marketplace timed auctions are individual seller listed, with direct communication allowed between buyers and sellers, facilitating transparent transactions.
New website, New online bidding platform, New brand
Emulating Lang’s timed auctions, the next event will run for 10 days, starting Friday, January 25 at 7:00pm ET, with bidding accepted for 10 days. On the evening of the 10th day, if a lot receives a bid between 6:50pm and 7:00pm, an extension timer will start a 10 minute count down on that lot. Each time another bid is placed, the 10 minute timer resets, until no further bids are placed in 10 minutes, then that lot will close. The auction will close on all lots that have not received a bid during the last 10 minutes at 7:00pm.
Watch for eCards with featured lots for the upcoming auction
Starting in March, monthly auctions will begin the second Friday at 7:00pm ET. There may be different sellers each auction, with the number and types of items unknown until the catalog goes live – some sellers may list a single item, others a large number. Lures, reels, rods, ephemera, books, floats, catalogs, creels, decoys, carvings, folk art, hooks, nets – anything fishing related is welcome. And listing your own collection or accumulation is encouraged!
Utilizing the best of Lang’s and The Bay’s auction formats, The Angling Marketplace provides the only auction venue that is fee and commission free for sellers – even the PayPal charges are paid by The Angling Marketplace. As with all Lang’s affiliated auctions, customer service, honest transactions, and a user-friendly experience are all top priorities.

The next seller timed auction will begin on January 25. Starting in March, auctions will go live on the second Friday of the month at 7:00pm EST, with bidding accepted for 10 days.
All lots start at $10.00 with bid increments of $5.00
Bids cannot be retracted or reduced. A bid is permanent – once placed it cannot be deleted.
Shipping fees are set by each individual seller. The shipping cost appears under the description for each lot.
A buyer’s premium of 21% will be added to all lots sold as part of the purchase price.
Sales Tax will be charged if the buyer and seller reside in the same state, unless the buyer has a valid signed purchase for resale tax form on file with The Angling Marketplace. Please mail or scan/email your signed resale form to info@theanglingmarketplace.com.
Post-auction invoices will be generated by each seller directly to the buyer. If you buy from multiple sellers, you will receive multiple invoices.
Payment is due within 5 days following the auction, after that time the buyer’s registration credit card will be charged for all purchases. A PayPal link will be provided on each invoice, with all major credit cards, personal checks, money orders and bank transfers accepted. Payments are made through The Angling Marketplace as a service to the sellers.
For credit card payments, please call 315-570-7991 post auction or email: Info@TheAnglingMarketplace.com to provide notification of a mailed check or money order.
Seller Fee: Zero – there are no fees or commissions to sell your items at auction through The Angling Marketplace – this includes Paypal and merchant service fees associated with the payment of your items.
What is provided: The Angling Marketplace provides the online bidding platform, auction catalog, collection of buyer payments, collection and remittance of sales tax, and post-auction seller payments. Sellers provide the photos, descriptions, invoices and shipping.
Auction items: You are welcome to list any item you chose – as long as it can legally be sold, anything and everything is acceptable.
Seller Name: Each seller is required to provide their name or business name for the Seller Directory, and a contact email for bidder questions.
Advertising: Each auction will be promoted to a dedicated audience of tens of thousands of fishing tackle collectors, fishermen and enthusiasts.
Set Auction Dates: Providing an advertised auction start and end date creates excitement and bidder participation for your listing – no specific event date (as with individual online seller auctions), can mean missed bidder participation. Multiple event eCards and mass marketing draw serious collector attention to your items.
No Snipe Bidding: Snipe bidding is not possible in this format. You need not worry about lost revenue due to an automated snipe bid entered at the last second, with no time for others to place another bid. At the close of the auction on Friday night at 7:00pm EST, each lot will remain open if a bid is received in the last 10 minutes (between 6:50pm and 7:00pm), and will stay open for additional bids until there is no bidding activity for 10 minutes. This assures your items will receive every bid.
Social Media: You are welcome to post a direct link to your personal auctions on social media, message boards and/or your website. This is a great way to draw bidders to your specific auction items. As soon as the catalog is live, your link will be available for you to share.
Shipping: Sellers set the shipping charge. Each lot’s shipping cost will be displayed under the description, to be paid by the buyer as part of their total invoice. Sellers will have the ability to modify the shipping cost on each buyer’s invoice post auction.
Returns: Should an item be determined “not as described”, the guarantee of a full refund including shipping will be honored. Buyers are required to notify the seller within 3 days of receipt (Delivery Confirmation), after that time no returns will be accepted.
Next Auction: The next seller timed auction will start on January 25. If you would like to participate in the upcoming auction and don’t have a Seller account, please fill out the form below. Upcoming Deadline: All descriptions and photos must be submitted by January 22 for the next auction.
