The “PERFECTION” brand was infringed upon by the United States Line Company in 1926 when they attempted to sell their own version of the “PERFECTION” brand. However, Cortland prevailed in the resulting dispute as the official prior owner of the trade mark and U. S. Line Company discontinued use of the brand name and changed their brand name to SATISFACTION

The United States Line Company of Westfield, Massachusetts was established in 1926 and adopted this backside label image of a flying eagle with a fish in its talons above the letters “U S L” as its corporate logo after it ceased being the United States Whip Company. After the automobile made the buggy whip obsolete the company changed with the times and began braiding silk fishing lines instead of braiding leather to make whips.
