The Ocean City Model 350 Antique Fishing Reel; Fully functional, no rust version of one of Ocean City’s American made spinning reels. These have become a very “tough find” especially with out rust or a broken internal retrieval arm/blade spring. Although quirky looking, it is quite simple in concept and subsequent design and with the curvilinear mounting foot the reel makes a great display piece. Compare to the vast amount of bait casting reels out there Ocean City didn’t make many spinning reels in comparison.
Circa 1950’s it is shown in the 1955 OC Catalog with the following description
“Answers Americas demand for a inexpensive, practical, Fresh Water Spinning Reel.
A Revolutionary new automatic line pick up principle made possible this extremely light yet sturdy reel (6 oz) at a price that puts spinning at a price that’s within reach of all.
The 350 also features a comfortable offset stand permitting the anglers full hand to be placed forward of the reel, a smooth adjustable drag, 3 to 1 gear ratio, gears sealed in lubricant a housing step on which to wrap the line when not actually fishing; stationary spool reduces line twist. It holds a 100lbs of 6lb test.”
