King Pin Braided Silk Line Spool
This King Pin Braided Silk Line Spool is a classic fishing collectible. This version of the KING-PIN highest quality braided silk casting line was introduced more than 100 years ago in 1916 by the B. F. Gladding Line Company (est. 1816) of South Otselic, New York boxed in an assortment of 12 spools packaged two each in six different braiding patterns. This moderately priced line was made with this simple style of label through 1931 and then modified slightly for another two years until it was discontinued after 1933. The KING-PIN brand name was chosen to reflect that this line was just like the definition: “a person or thing that is essential to the success of an organization or operation”.

Vintage Line Spools
This spool and many others we have listed belonged to John Etchieson. John has spent decades amassing one of the largest line collections. The vast array of line spools and cards he has in his collection is historically significant as John has spent decades not only collecting, but rather researching these companies adding provenance to these pieces.
