Joliet Spinner Lure
The Joliet Spinner Lure was introduced around 1902.The Joliet Spinner would end up being made by both G. Bruton of Joliet, Illinois and later by New Jersey Aluminum Co. This metal spiral antique fishing lure is a simple twisting piece of metal that was offered in multiple sizes and had the patent stamped into the metal. The lure has a forward split ring and a rear feathered treble hook. The lure would rotate like a corkscrew when being retrieved through the water.
The antique lure in the gallery below is shown in the correct black box that had no writing, photo or description. The fishing lure is also accompanied by the card stating the size to which the lure would have been sewn. The box and card are much harder to locate than just the lure, making this a very desirable box and antique lure combination.
