Jim Slack Curlew Shorebird
This is a wonderful Jim Slack Curlew Shorebird. The Curlews, genus Numenius, are a group of eight species of birds, characterised by long, slender, down curved bills and mottled brown plumage. The English name is imitative of the Eurasian curlew’s call, but may have been influenced by the Old French corliu, “messenger”, from courir, “to run”. Just from looking at this bird by this carver you see his attention to detail and precision while combining this his own artistic impressions.
