JC Griner Orlando Shiner Lure
The JC Griner Orlando Shiner Lure is beset upon the old saying that imitation is the nearest and dearest form of flattery. John Chandler Griner is one of those artists. Being a fisherman at heart and having a need is how many of the lure makers both old and new got a start. J.C. Griner, of Orlando Florida used all of the lures he created to catch fish, as time went on and the original versions of the lures became harder to find or too expensive, JC took matters into his own hands (Pun Intended). Most of J.C.’s creations we the decade between the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The Orlando Shiner Lure looks and acts like the more famous original. The lure has a slender slab shaped wooden body measuring in at 4″ in length. The lure has the traditional painted eyes of the original. The antique fishing lure has dual props, both fore and aft, and 3T held on by a simpler eye screw. The Orlando Shiner is painted in a Green Back, Yellow belly with flitter. The paint combination is very similar to Pfeffer’s but being hand painted it gives rise to his artistic impression of the original.
