Heddon Musky Vamp Antique Lure
The Heddon Musky Vamp Antique Lure over went many identities and names through its lifespan. The antique lure was first introduced as the Musketeer Vamp in 1927, The name was changed to Musky Vamp in 1928 and would also be referred to as a Giant Vamp. While its name was in question its intent never was, to catch big fish. This huge wooden fishing lure measures 5 3/4″- 6″ in length and weighs close to 2 oz. The big game lure aimed at targeting some of the large game fish such as the great northern pike or the coveted Musky.
The antique lure has large blemish free glass eyes a single forward line tie, just below the balancing nose pin insert and before the large plain and non descriptive rounded metal diving lip. The lure features 3 large trebles to secure its catch which use heavy duty toilet seat hardware to attach them to the wooden body. 7350 was the model series number it was given by the Heddon, of Dowagiac Michigan Bait company. The lure is in a wonderful and classy looking green pike scale, Heddon’s color code M. While the condition is obvious in the pictures let me say its even better in hand, great lure, great Vamp, pun intended.
