Heddon Artistic Minnow Lure with Buoy
The Heddon Artistic Minnow Lure was first introduced in 1907. This wooden glass eyed Heddon Dowagiac antique fishing lure was a series number 50. The lure was available with a single, a double and a triple belly weight in this tiny unit. The lure was available with a solid black buoy that had a line tie on each end. The lure was first introduced in a maroon double border intro box. This box was dual purpose and was used for the Baby Dowagiac series 20 minnow lure as well. This antique Heddon lure was roughly 1 3/4″ in length and featured a front propeller and often times a single trailing dressed buck tail treble hook.
We have an artistic minnow in on Consignment this week, click below to view.
Heddon Artistic Minnow
As stated in a 1908 Abbey and Imbrie Catalog showing the Heddon Artistic Minnow Lure:
“This Bait carries with it a novelty which we can term a “weight buoy.” It is enameled dark lead color and can be attached on the like 3 inches above the minnow, there by giving additional weight when desired for casting, and to prevent the minnow from sinking too rapidly in shallow water.”
No. 50 Yellow Body, Fancy Mottled Back (Crackle Back)
No. 51 Gold Body, and Greenish Cast Back.
