Heddon 3-15 Antique Fishing Reel
This Heddon 3-15 Antique Fishing Reel is quite a looker. This was Heddon’s first reel that they made for themselves, not using a jobber and they went about doing it as many companies would continue to source people over the next century, they just hired the guy from the competition. This 3-15 was a German Silver Bait caster that had a shelf life of around 7 years, 1920-27. This reel was said to be fashioned after the Talbot Star and it should come of no surprise as the man Jack Welch from Talbot was just exactly who Heddon of Dowagiac Michigan just happen to have hired.
The Patina on this reel is wonderful, as the reel is close to 100 years old. It still spins fast, furious and with ease and balance. All external finishing on this reel, screws, end camps, plates are all original and free of any issues that I’m able to find. This is a reel we all would be proud to display.
