Creek Chub Jointed Darter Lure
The Creek Chub Jointed Darter Lure was first introduced in 1938. The Creek Chub Bait Company of Garrett Indiana assigned this antique fishing lure model 4900. The Jointed Darter was Leap frogging off the success, sales, and accomplishments of it’s straight one piece brother the model 2400 series darter that had been in production for 14 years. This antique wooden fishing lure measure 3 3/4″ in length, and was only ever made with painted eyes. The lure was a top water success and would last over 40 years in the production line up. The lure had three treble hooks one on the front sections and two on the aft. Both hooks that were on the underside of the lure being held by the traditional cup rig, and the rear the traditional screw eye.
We have a Jointed Darter in on Consignment this week, click below to view.
If you’ve ever wanted to fish an antique lure, the Darter and the Jointed Darter should be in your top 5. These two top water twitching baits are bass slayers. I wouldn’t fish any uncatalogued colors or excellent quality ones, but finding these two lures with some honest wear should be no problem and well worth your efforts.
The Jointed Darter was at first only made in 5 standard colors, later to be expanded to 10 standard color selections.
00 Pike Scale 01 Perch 02 Red and White 14 Yellow Spotted 18 Silver Flash 19 Frog Spot 31 Rainbow Fire 32 Fire Plug 33 Black Scale 38 Pearl
As well as some great uncatalogued colors like05 Dace/Red Side (Shown Below in the Gallery)
1939 Creek Chub Catalog Jointed Darter
The old stand-by of the southern bass fisherman now made in a jointed style which gives it a little more life and action. Perhaps it will not take any more fish than the No. 2000 but it takes a lot of power for a bass to resist its lifelike action and snarky look. Use it with a series of short twitches of the rod and you will be agreebly surprised at the results.
