Creek Chub Fin Tail Shiner Lure
The Creek Chub Fin Tail Shiner Lure was first introduced in 1924. This glass eyed, wooden, antique lure was Creek Chub of Garrett Indiana model series number 2100. The Fintail shiner is 4 inches in length. The lure has glass eyes and the new improved lip which held one of the two lines ties on the lure. Its tell tale features however were its dorsal, pectoral and rear fins.
We have a one in on Consignment this week, click below to view.
The antique lure evolved over time as far as the composition or type of product used. The first were made of rubber then on to cloth and finally it was changed over to metal fins that could weather the environmental changes sitting in a metal tackle box much better. The fishing lure used two large treble hooks secured by the traditional cup hardware to snag and hold its prey. The lure was available in a half dozen different colors besides the Perch Scale shown in the gallery.

“With its beautiful, natural colors, scale finish, flat sides, swishing tail, flexible fins-and patented mouthpiece-this lure is as near like a living, breathing, wiggling minnow as human skill can make it. Made to fool the big old wise fish.”
