Clark Goofy Gus Lure
The Clark Goofy Gus Lure was first introduced around 1948. The lure made by the C.A. Clark Bait Company, Springfield, Missouri was given a model series 2600. This top water fished wooden lure measures 3 1/8″ in length. The antique fishing lure has both a front and rear unmarked propellers, however it can be found with just a front. The lure has a unique shape having both a pointed or tapered front as well as rear end with its center waist being as thin as its end.
The Goofy Gus antique lure features two treble hooks one attached via screw eye towards the front center of the lure, the rear sitting behind the back prop. The lure has its name stenciled usually on the back half of the lure and features small black glass bead eyes. The Goofy Gus was made in a series of different colors from the plain to scale or shore finishes. While made around the same time frame as the Clark Water Scout the Goofy Gus lure is more difficult to find when comparing it to the production numbers of the Waters Scout.
