Charles Orvis Logo
The Charles Orvis Logo is something every NFLCC member should familiar with. I’ve always enjoyed the headings on the gazettes and the clubs logo, and thought I would share where the idea and design was taken from.And truth be told I actually am in the process of incorporating these frogs and the T.H Chub Frogs in the logo for the Fin and Flame site itself.
With its headquarters in Manchester Vermont still to this day. Orvis has been providing goods for the hunter, angler and outdoor sporting enthusiasts for well over a century. There are not many in any of the industries I just mentioned that can tout that fact. Whether its flies, bamboo fly rods, line, leaders, hunting clothing of all types including upland and waterfowl and more, accessories and furnishings, Orvis provides these goods and services to its customers.
Charles Orvis established his business in 1856 and today is the longest standing continually operating fly fishing business. The original logo shown incorporates the frogs making their way across the water using a fly rod and line. If you look closely in the bottom right corner you’ll see the fly reel to the bottom left of the tree and the creel hanging from one of its branches. The pond and area adorned with cat-tails, mushroom sand water lily. There are two small feathered flies dangling from the outstretched leader. The lead frog exclaiming “This must be one of those mist colored leaders manufactured by Charles F. Orvis.”
