Captor Frog Antique Fishing Lure
A very cool Captor Frog Antique Fishing Lure is a very neat piece. Another example is shown in Don Wheelers frog book on page 65. To my knowledge this one, and the one that sold at Lags in 2006 in Dons book, are a couple of the only known examples. While the lure has lost most of its paint it actually still retains some. The lure is stated to be Circa 1914 by the Fischer Schuberth Co.
The wooden lure measure 3 1/4″ in length give or take. This classic piece has a build shaped head and tapers down to a top and bottom piece. The head piece is attached and is one piece, the bottom leg is held on my a hinged mechanism. The hinge is screwed into the bottom or belly of the fishing lure. This lure has two single hooks on opposing sides so that when pushed together or the lure is taken by its prey fish the two hooks are exposed. Until that point the remain somewhat or rudimentarily weed-less.
