Jim Pfeffer King Shiner Lure

Jim Pfeffer King Shiner Lure

The Jim Pfeffer King Shiner Lure is a beauty to hold and admire. This huge big game fish wooden lure, has painted eyes, a large single red hand painted sweeping gill mark. The Shiner series lures were known far and wide, and was certainly one of, if not the lure that carried the most notoriety in Pfeffer’s Florida lure line up. The standard Shiners were available in 4 different sizes. These were in addition to the large Snook, Tarpon or Big Game sizes of the Sailfish and King Shiner rounding out the largest size available in Shiner series.

We Have a Beauty of a King Shiner in on Consignment this week, available by clicking below.

This lure shown is the King Shiner model and measures a whopping 4 7/8″ in length. The lure has large trebles, and uses both a front and rear prop to keep it straight during retrieval. My personal opinion the lures coolest feature of this antique lure isits 4 belly weights. The Shiner has a Solid Silver Painted body underneath all silver flitter which still is intact. The lure has obviously never been fished and would be an amazing addition to any antique lure collection, and would easily fit right into the center of a Florida themed group.

Shakespeare Tarpalunge Lure

Shakespeare Tarpalunge Lure

This Shakespeare Tarpalunge antique fishing lure is a model #6640. This jointed, wooden antique Shakespeare lure is circa 1930 and has two very large single hooks. This antique Shakespeare salt water fishing lure measures in at  5 3/4 inches in length. The lure was touted to hold over a 200 lb dead pull weight, that is a lot for those not familiar with the phrase. The rear single hook swings freely from a reinforced screw eye hanger while the front of single hook over sized lure is held by what I term a break free clasp.

The antique fishing lure was available in both pressed and glass eye antique lure versions and changed with the other lures as they transitioned. The antique lure shown is red head flitter in color scheme finish ,and is obviously geared towards big game, salt water species of fish such as the Tarpon. The lure came in a handful of different colors including the popular Shakespeare photo finish.

Creek Chub Husky Surfster Lure

Creek Chub Husky Surfster Lure

The Creek Chub Husky Surfster Lure was first offered in 1953. The antique lure was Creek Chub of Garrett, Indiana lure model series number 7300. This large wooden cedar lure continued the Surfster line up by adding this salt water or big game Surfster. This large antique fishing lure measures in at 6″ in length. The lure features a heavy duty diving lip mounted to the mouth to which the single forward line tie connects. This glass eyed beauty has two over size treble hooks, this may have been a special order as they usually have three. The hook hardware is the reinforced cup as well as having the reinforced wire through rigging. The lures end of life was around 1958 for all intents and purposes.

The Husky Surfster was only made in eight standard color palate finishes. The antique fishing lure came housed in a large over sized Creek Chub two piece cardboard box with the 7700 model either stamped on the end or printed on a label. The standard finishes for this huge antique lure are:

00 Pike Scale
01 Perch Scale
02 Red and White
07 Mullet
18 Silver Flash (As Shown in Gallery Below)
34 Blue Flash (Shown in the Gallery Below)
35 Purple Eel
37 Yellow Flash (Shown Below)
