The Creek Chub Jointed Midget Pikie  antique lure was first introduced in 1934 and lasted until 1961. This lure made by the Creek Chub Bait Company of Garrett, Indiana was given a model series number 4200. Expounding up the great success the Pikie line up continued to be one of the industries greatest sellers. This segmented wooden lure measure 2/3″ in length and only tips the scale at 1/4oz. The early models can be differentiated by having a more pointed nose. The lures 2 Treble hooks are held in by a simple eye screw affixed to each of the two sections of lure.

The Jointed Midget over time would transition from having the traditional glass eye to having painted eyes. The midget pikie can be found in roughly a dozen catalog colors. The example shown in the gallery below is a desirable frog spot, shown with the early pointed nose.

Creek Chub Jointed Pikie Antique Lure

The Creek Chub Jointed Pikie Antique Lure is certainly one of the companies mainstays. The Jointed Pikie has a history that spans roughly 5 decades, or 50 years of fishing lure production. From various lure colors, the evolution of eye differences, lure composition, size of diving lips the Jointed Pikie has seen them all. Helping date the lure itself with its single (Post 1936) to double line tie (Pre 1935) this antique lure evolved, stayed relevant with fishermen and certainly has with antique lure collectors as well. 

The antique fishing lure was given a model series 2600. The Deep Diving version shown below is in one of Creek Chubs prettiest fishing lure colors when in nice condition like the antique lure shown, Mullet. The Color code is 07 on the Creek Chub Bait Company’s color chart. This wooden glass eyed example is shown with a deep diving lip, single line, in its correct end stamped box 2607DD and period lure box catalog. Although they probably used the same die cuts for catalogs for some time, the 1931 catalog below touts the new lure as having a wonderful wiggling motion. Even greater than its famous Pikie Minnow lure.

The 1931 Creek Chub Bait Company Catalog states: This new Jointed Pikie has a beautiful wiggling movement, flexible and sinuous, which we believe makes it a still better fish getter than our famous Pikie minnow No. 700. […]

Creek Chub Jointed Snook Pikie Lure

The Creek Chub Jointed Snook Pikie Lure was first introduced in 1938. While its inventory continued to be sold and was in the Creek Chub Bait Company lure catalogs until 1978, it was produced after 1965. This large jointed or segmented lure is brother to the traditional and straight Snook Pikie, a model 5400. While it took 8 years past the 5400 to make it to production, the Model Number 5500 was assigned to this antique fishing lure which measures just under 5″ at 4 7/8″ and weighed 1 1/8 oz.

This mid sized Creek Chub lure was made out of wood with heavy duty through wire construction and a improved diving lip. This was done to no doubt add strength to its mid size so that just in case you met up with a beast from the deep you would be prepared. This glass eyed dandy came standard with three larger hooks to secure its game fish once caught.

Over its life span the Creek Chub Jointed Snook Pikie Lure would be produced in a standard finish in a pallet of 14 colors. The Rainbow Fire Example shown below is a collector Favorite, and the Silver Shiner is Uncatalogued in a Box marked Special. The antique fishing lure in the gallery below is shown housed in its correct over sized, end stamped box adding value to the package.

Creek Chub Jointed Husky Pikie Lure

The Creek Chub Jointed Husky Pikie Lure was a trusted Muskie lure. The Creek Chub Bait Company of Garrett Indiana would assign the model number 3000 to it. This Giant Jointed Great Northern slayer was first introduced in 1931 and lasted until 1978. This Jointed version of the Husky Pikie measured in at 6″ weighing close to 1 1/2oz. The lure with two segments is made with reinforced wire through construction to handle the beasts from the deep. The lure having 3 over sized trebles to secure its catch.

The lure was available in roughly a dozen and a half standard colors and probably half that and then some for special order lures. While the lure was available in the Creek Chub Bait Company Catalogs, the was no image until a decade into its existence.

The 1941 Creek Chub Catalog Finally shows us an image to go along with its decade of text; “The last word in life-like action and the only large lure made with all the action of a live fish. Same size as the 2300, jointed like the 2600 shown on page 9. Equipped with extra heavy hooks and fittings to withstand hard use. The muskellunge lure pa-excellence.

Creek Chub Baby Pikie Lure

The Creek Chub Baby Pikie Lure was first introduced to the fishing lure public in 1921. This lure a model 900 series was produced by the Creek Chub Bait Company of Garrett Indiana. This smaller version of the industry changing and dominating Pikie minnow was made of wood and measured 3 1/4″ in length and weighing 1/2oz. The Baby Pikie antique fishing lure would retain its wooden composition until 1963, there in it would be composed of plastic. The lure was primarily made with glass eyes but can be found in a no eyed version as well. The lure can be found with the Double Line Tie (Shown on the Rainbow Below) prior to the 1936 switch to the single line tie variation. The antique lure came standard with two treble hooks to secure the catch, the rear attached via screw eye and the center using a cup rig.

The Baby Pikie came standard in roughly 7 colors but can be found in dozens of special order or short run finishes.

The Creek Chub Midget Pikie lure is a series, 2200. The Midget Pikie Minnow lure was first made by the Creek Chub of Garrett Indiana in 1924 and lasted until 1961. This wooden antique fishing lure lure has glass eyes, 2 treble hooks. The lure has a single line tie, which helps date this package to post 1936. The lure has the desirable military stencil, again helping us date to between 1935-1950. This Midget Pikie Minnow lure package comes with it’s correct desirable end labeled box. A a collector it would be hard to ever upgrade this one.The lure is in Silver Flash color, Code 18.

Creek Chub Fly Fishing Lure Pikie

The Creek Chub Fly Fishing Lure Pikie was fist introduced in 1924. This fly rod sized version of the classic Pikie minnow fishing lure came in both a bass and a trout size as so many of the Creek Chub Fly rod lures did. The Pikie Fly was only cataloged in three different colors, 00 Pike, 02 Red and White, and 05 Red Side. The lure was available in a trout size which was code 1200, and measured 1 1/4″ and a Bass size model 1400 measuring in at 1 5/8″. The lure was a pretty good replica of the original Pikie Minnow antique lure just in a miniature size. The lure has a single line tie and can be found with a leader attached. The antique lure uses a small size double hook to catch its prey.
