Gudebrod Bippie Lure

The Gudebrod Bippie Lure was made in 1975. I believe this lure is one of the youngest I’ve featured on the Blog. I would like to make sure that my intent isn’t just to feature the rare and expensive but yet give a good cross section of all the lures rare or common, young and old that fit into a certain genre. The Bippie Lure was made by the Gudebrod Brothers Silk Company out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I haven’t run across too many antique lures who’s home is in Pennsylvania, which is strange.

This chunk bait made of plastic is a floater with a trailing spinner and a large grooved or notched mouth. The line tie is at the bottom of the mouth making the lure create a wake upon retrieval of the fishing lure. The lure features two treble hooks one under the center of the lure the other after the floppy prop on the rear of the bait. The Bippie was offered in a handful of different colors, and can be identified by the stencil on the belly of the lure. The company made a handful of other lure over its life span.
